Advantages and application of 10 Gigabit copper module
The 10 Gigabit copper module, namely 10GBASE-T copper SFP+ module, adopts RJ45 interface, with the highest speed of 10G and the longest transmission distance of 30m. The 10 Gigabit electrical interface module is mainly integrated in switches, network cards and other products, which is widely used in 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
Because of the advantages of high cost performance and long service life, 10G copper module is adopted by big data center, internal network system of University Research Institute and government video monitoring system. The copper module not only reduces the economic burden, but also realizes the hard requirement of long-term operation.
Compared with other optical modules, the advantage of copper module lies in its cost performance. In the transmission distance of 100m, if the optical module needs to use optical fiber for wiring and add photoelectric converter equipment, the application cost of optical module is too high; while the use of copper module can be directly used in the existing copper cable wiring system.
In most cases, the data center uses active optical cable or high-speed cable for interconnection. However, because the transmission distance of high-speed cable is within 7m, the transmission distance is too short. Although the transmission distance of active cable can meet the requirements of transmission distance, the cost is too high within 100m transmission distance. At this time, the copper module just makes up for the lack of high-speed cable transmission distance and the high cost of active cable within 100m.

However, the copper module also has some disadvantages. For example, the power consumption of the copper module is too large, and it does not have the DDM digital monitoring function.
