ETU-LINK 100G ZR4 BIDI 80KM Optical Module: Long Distance Solution

In the field of high-speed data transmission, 100G optical modules have become an important part of data centers and telecommunication networks with their high-speed transmission capabilities and excellent performance. Product Overview

100G QSFP28 ZR4 BIDI is a single-fiber optical module designed for 80km optical communication applications. A single-fiber optical module is an optical module product with only one optical fiber port. It can transmit and receive optical signals at the same time by inserting only one optical fiber. It adopts QSFP28 packaging and simplex LC connector.


Product Features

Rate and transmission distance: Supports a rate of 103.125 Gb/s, with a rate of 25.78 Gb/s per channel, and can achieve a transmission distance of up to 80km with the support of KR4-FEC (forward error correction).


Laser and receiver : The transmitting end uses LAN WDM EML laser, and the receiving end uses PIN receiver and SOA optical amplifier, with a central wavelength of 1273nm to 1309nm.


Power consumption and heat dissipation: Low power consumption, supporting commercial-grade applications .

Operating Principle

At the transmitting end of the 100G QSFP28 ZR4 BIDI optical module, the four serial data stream channels are recovered, retimed and passed to four laser drivers, which control four electro-absorption modulated lasers (Lan-WDM) with central wavelengths of 1273, 1277, 1282, 1286, 1296, 1300, 1305 and 1309nm. Then, the optical signals are multiplexed into a single-mode optical fiber through an industry-standard LC connector.


At the receiving end, the optical module demultiplexes four optical data streams using an integrated optical demultiplexer. After amplification by the SOA, the DEMUX separates the four channels, which are recovered by the PIN photodetector and transimpedance amplifier, retimed and passed to the output driver. The module features hot-swappable electrical interfaces, low power consumption and an I2C line serial interface.
