QSFP-40/100-SRBD dual-rate bidirectional optical module introduction
The QSFP-40/100-SRBD is a dual-rate bidirectional (BiDi) optical module. It features 40G and 100G transmission rates and dual-fiber LC interface type. It can easily help customers upgrade from 10G to 40G/100G networks using existing 10G network duplex multimode fiber architecture. In the following, ETU-LINK will introduce the relevant parameters of the QSFP-40/100-SRBD optical module and the patch cord matching scheme.
Introduction of QSFP-40/100-SRBD
The working wavelength of QSFP-40/100-SRBD optical module is 832nm-918nm, and the power consumption is 3.5W. It has two transceiver channels. Specifically speaking, when the transmission rate is 40G, the transmit optical power range of each channel is -4dBm to +5dBm, and the receiving sensitivity range is -6dBm to 5dBm; when the transmission rate is 100G, the transmitting optical power of each channel ranges from -6dbm to +4dBm, and the receiving sensitivity ranges from -7.9dbm to 4dBm. Its operating temperature range is between 0°C and 70°C. In addition, it should be noted that the 100G BiDi QSFP28 optical modules of ETU-LINK need to be used in pairs, and the link cannot be split.
Patch cord matching solution:
Under 40G transmission rate:
1. Duplex LC-LC OM3 MM optical fiber patch cord, supporting a maximum transmission distance of 100 meters;
2. Duplex LC-LC OM4 MM optical fiber patch cord, supporting the longest transmission distance of 150 meters.
Under 100G transmission rate:
1. Duplex LC-LC OM3 MM optical fiber patch cord, supporting the longest transmission distance of 70 meters.
2. Duplex LC-LC OM4 MM optical fiber patch cord, supporting the longest transmission distance of 100 meters.
Compared with the 100G QSFP28 SR4 solution, the QSFP-40/100-SRBD dual-fiber bidirectional optical module solution saves fiber costs, and can use the original 10G network duplex LC MM optical fiber patch cord. If you use 100G QSFP28 SR4 as a network upgrade solution, you need to purchase additional MPO patch cords, resulting in high wiring costs. Therefore, the emergence of 100G BiDi QSFP28 saves wiring costs for upgrading 100G networks.
