In 40G short-distance optical network transmission, the conventional optical module solution is to use QSFP-40G-SR4 optical module and 12-core MPO multi-mode OM3 fiber patch cord. Although this solution can realize the upgrade of 10G network to 40G network, it uses MPO branch jumpers to connect 10G equipment and 40G equipment are obviously too expensive, so the industry has given a new optical module solution, which is to use 40G BiDi QSFP+ dual-fiber bidirectional optical module, which can not only use the original 10G network Wiring structure, and save fiber than QSFP-40G-SR4 solution. QSFP-40G-SR-BD introduction
The interface type of the QSFP-40G-SR-BD optical module is a dual-fiber LC interface, the working wavelength is 850nm and 900nm, there are 2 bidirectional channels, and the transmission rate of each channel is 20G, and each transceiver channel can transmit and receive at the same time Optical signals from different wavelengths on a multimode fiber.
The received optical power of QSFP-40G-SR-BD is -4~5dBm, and the receiving sensitivity is less than -6dBm. It has the FEC function. Turning on this function can correct errors in the signal transmission process to improve the quality of the signal.
Patch cord matching solution:
1、Duplex LC-LC OM3 multi-mode fiber optic patch cord, supporting a maximum transmission distance of 100 meters;
2、Duplex LC-LC OM4 multi-mode fiber optic patch cord, supporting a maximum transmission distance of 150 meters.
The above is the introduction of QSFP-40G-SR-BD optical module. Compared with QSFP-40G-SR4 optical module solution, it saves the cost of optical fiber jumper. The price of 12 core MPO multimode OM3 jumper is much more expensive than that of duplex LC multimode OM3 jumper. Finally, when purchasing QSFP-40G-SR-BD optical module, we need to pay attention to the fact that QSFP-40G-SR-BD optical module needs to be used in pairs. It can't be used alone because it can’t split link and interconnect with SFP+ port like QSFP-40G-SR4.
