Application of 10 Gigabit Optical Module in Building Network Construction
With the gradual improvement of living standards, the concept of networked and intelligent buildings is no longer unfamiliar to everyone. In intelligent buildings, we can not only exchange data information quickly, control lights and adjust air conditioning through the network system, but also build intelligent scenes such as network monitoring systems and intelligent parking systems. In order to ensure the quality of data transmission, the building network optical transmission solution can use products such as 10 Gigabit optical modules and optical fiber patch cords of ETU-LINK.
Next, ETU-LINK will introduce the application of 10 Gigabit optical modules in building networking. Taking into account the characteristics of dense data points and large business volume in smart office buildings, and considering multiple services such as firewalls and wireless access, we use 10 Gigabit core switches as the core of the network, and stackable 10 Gigabit switches as the access Into the switch. The access layer, server group, routing switch and other equipment of the network are connected to the core switch through high-speed cables, optical modules and patch cords. The connection between the core switch and the access layer switch can use 10 Gigabit multi-mode optical modules with OM3 multi-mode fiber patch cords, and the maximum transmission distance can reach 300 meters. If the transmission distance is not enough, 10 Gigabit single-mode optical modules can be used with OS2 single-mode fiber patch cords, and the transmission distance starts at more than 2 kilometers.

The access layer switch can be connected to office computers, wireless routers and other terminal network equipment. Large-scale building networks and small and medium-sized buildings use the same network structure, but the core equipment is replaced with a core switch with greater data throughput, richer interface types, and higher reliability.
In high-rise buildings, optical fiber cabling is often used because the optical fiber has a long transmission distance and good stability, which is also convenient for future network upgrades. If an optical fiber cabling system is used, multi-mode optical modules can be used with multi-mode fiber patch cords for closer distances, and single-mode optical modules can be used with single-mode fiber patch cords for longer distances.
In the establishment of building network, two-layer network structure is mostly adopted, namely the core layer and the access layer. When there are more terminals connected, the core switches, server groups and more access layer switches with better performance can be selected.
