QSFP-100G-ER4 Lite Optical module --- data center long-distance transmission solutions
In this blog, ETU-LINK will introduce the QSFP-100G-ER4 Lite optical module, which uses LWDM multiplexing technology and operates in the wavelength range of 1295, 1300, 1304, and 1309. The optical signal is multiplexed by a WDM wavelength division multiplexer and transmitted on a single-mode fiber through an industry-standard LC connector. At the receiving end, the SOA amplifies the signal before the WDM wavelength division multiplexer decomposes the signal into individual channels. The wavelength emission TOSA of LAN WDM must be equipped with a TEC (Thermo Electric Cooler) to stabilize the wavelength, which will consume an additional power consumption of about 0.5W while stabilizing the wavelength, so the power consumption of the LWDM4 optical module will be higher than that of the CWDM4.
QSFP-100G-ER4-Lite optical module adopts hot-pluggable QSFP28 package, dual LC interface, operating temperature is 0°C ~ 70°C (commercial grade), and the maximum rate is up to 111.8Gbps.
The QSFP-100G-ER4 Lite optical module has the FEC front-end error correction function. When the FEC function is turned on, the transmission distance can reach 40KM, and when the FEC function is turned off, the transmission distance can reach 30KM. The FEC function has both advantages and disadvantages. Its advantage is that it can make the overall link meet the requirements of the bit error rate. The disadvantage is that it increases the delay of data packets and the power consumption of equipment, which is obviously very important for financial transaction systems with high timeliness requirements. fatal, so the FEC function is not applicable to all networks.
