Introduction and function of DWDM optical modules
DWDM technology can use the wavelength of laser to transmit data in optical fiber according to bit parallel transmission or string line transmission. DWDM optical module is the optical module which combines this technology, so it has the characteristics of high bandwidth and long distance transmission. Brief introduction of DWDM optical module:
DWDM optical module belongs to dense wavelength division multiplexing technology, which can couple different wavelengths of light into a single core fiber and transmit together. These optical modules are designed for high capacity, long-distance transmission.
Advantages of DWDM optical module:
DWDM optical modules support pluggable and tunable, with 40 common channels to choose from, which greatly reduces the demand for independent pluggable modules. According to different requirements, DWDM optical modules have different channel intervals of 0.4nm, 0.8nm and 1.6nm, which can support long-distance transmission of up to 100km, and can be used as an effective solution for line bandwidth expansion.

1. 1.25G/2.5G DWDM SFP optical module
DWDM SFP optical module conforms to IEEE802.3 Gigabit Ethernet standard and ANSI fibre channel specification, and provides high-speed serial link with transmission rate of 100Mbps to 2.5Gbps, which is suitable for interconnection in Gigabit Ethernet and fibre channel environment.
2. 10G DWDM SFP+ optical module
DWDM SFP + optical module is the best solution for the application of 10 Gigabit maximum bandwidth. It is specially designed for operators and large enterprises to build scalable, flexible and cost-effective system. The transmission distance can reach up to 80km, which conforms to 10GBASE-ZR/ZW standard and can be used for 10G Optical cable.
3. 10G DWDM XFP optical module
The transmission distance of DWDM XFP optical module can reach up to 80km, which conforms to the current XFP MSA specification. It supports SONET / SDH, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit fibre channel applications. It is usually used in 10G Ethernet, 10g fibre channel, SONET (synchronous fibre network) and SDH (optical transmission equipment) applications.
DWDM optical module function:
The basic function and working principle of DWDM optical module are the same as other optical modules, which convert the electrical signal to optical signal, and then convert the optical signal to electrical signal. However, DWDM optical module is designed for DWDM applications, and it is worth mentioning that it has its own features and functions. Compared with CWDM optical module, DWDM optical module is designed for single-mode optical fiber and operates between 1528.38 and 1563.86nm (channel 17 to channel 61) DWDM wavelengths as specified by ITU-T. DWDM optical module is equipped with a 20 pin SFP connector, which can realize hot plug function. Its transmitter part uses DWDM multi quantum well DFB laser. According to the international safety standard IEC-60825, the laser is a class 1 laser. In addition, many suppliers of DWDM optical modules meet SFF-8472 MSA standard.
