2. For temperature testing, we can identify the old module and place it under conditions of 50-60°C to see if it can function properly.
3. For optical port identification, the casing is generally divided into two types: multi mold plastic casing and single mold metal casing. There is still a difference between the new module casing and second-hand casing. The surface of the new module casing is smooth and the color is also very bright. We can remove the dust cover to check the casing. If there are scratches on the inner pipe wall and the metal casing has poor glossiness, it is a second-hand casing.
4. For performance identification, if the second-hand module is used for more than half a year, it will cause various problems. We can identify it based on its working current, service life, reception sensitivity, and external cavity. To complete the transmission task, the second-hand fiber module needs to increase the working current to overload the laser. However, due to the presence of dust in the cavity, it will affect the optical transmission and reduce the transmission quality of the optical signal, Long time operation will cause the Optical module to become hot and its life will be shortened. Secondly, the sensitivity of second-hand Optical module does not meet international standards, which will lead to packet loss in the communication link under slightly bad conditions, seriously affecting the network quality. In addition, its outer cavity is mostly made of plastic or metal materials. After multiple insertion and extraction of connectors, the inner wall of the outer cavity will be worn to a certain extent, which cannot ensure the coaxial transmission of the optical device. This causes certain changes in the optical path of the optical device, resulting in low optical power, high bit error rate, increased packet loss rate on the device, network timeout, and system instability. Finally, we can look at its service life. The service life of the brand new Optical module is generally more than three years. If the Optical module is used for two years and three years, there is a problem, then it is a second-hand Optical module. If the device continues to use, there will be a possibility that the device will completely fail and not emit light.
