Do you know which connectors are commonly used in optical modules?
In this blog, ETU-Link will introduce the following connectors commonly used to connect optical modules, which are LC connector, SC connector and MPO connector, among which LC connector is divided into simplex and duplex.
1. LC connector
(1) Duplex LC connector
Duplex LC connector is used to connect dual fiber optical modules, such as 1.25G Gigabit dual fiber optical module, 10 Gigabit dual fiber optical module, 25G dual fiber optical module, 40G / 100G single-mode optical module, etc.
(2) Simplex LC connector
Simplex LC connector is used to connect single fiber optical modules, such as 1.25G single fiber LC interface optical module (with SC and LC connector types), 10 Gigabit single fiber optical module and 25G single fiber optical module.
2. SC connector
SC connectors are mostly used to connect single fiber bidirectional optical modules, such as 1.25G Gigabit single fiber SC optical modules.
3. MPO connector
MPO connector is used to connect 40G / 100G optical modules, such as 40G SR4, 100G SR4, etc. MPO connectors have 8 cores, 12 cores and 24 cores specifications. Generally, 40G SR4 and 100G SR4 are used together with 12 core optical fiber patch cord.
The above are the types of optical fiber connectors commonly used in optical modules. When using optical fiber, we should pay attention to ensure that the optical fiber end face of the connector and the optical module interface are not polluted. Before connecting the optical module, the optical fiber end face can be cleaned with fiber wiping paper, and then connected to the optical module. If the optical module and jumper are not in use, remember to plug the dust cap.
