Analyze the structure, classification and application of 40G QSFP+ AOC active optical cable
AOC active optical cable refers to the communication cable that needs to use external energy to convert electrical signals and optical signals to each other in the communication process, and the optical transceivers at both ends of the optical cable provide photoelectric conversion and optical transmission functions. Today ETU-LINK will introduce the 40G AOC active optical cable.
The 40G QSFP+ AOC active optical cable consists of two 40G optical transceiver modules and a multimode OM3 fiber, with modules at both ends responsible for photoelectric conversion and optical jumpers in the middle transmitting optical signals. The modules at both ends contain an optical emission part and an optical reception part, and the optical emission part contains: a VCSEL laser, diode, driving and control circuit, etc.; the optical reception part contains a photodiode (PIN), a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and auxiliary circuits.
40G QSFP+ AOC active optical cable can be divided into two types: 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ AOC and 40G QSFP+ to 4*SFP+ AOC. Among them, the 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ AOC active optical cable is a 40G optical transceiver module at both ends, while the 40G QSFP+ to 4*SFP+ AOC active optical cable is a 40G optical transceiver module at one end, and the other end is a 40G optical transceiver module.
The 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ AOC active optical cable is used for the connection of two 40G switch ports, while the 40G QSFP+ to 4*SFP+ AOC active optical cable is used for the connection of 40G QSFP+ ports and 10G SFP+ ports.
Due to the low power consumption and low cost advantages of 40G QSFP+ AOC active optical cable, it is widely used in short-distance transmission in data centers and can be used for the connection of access layer switches and aggregation layer switches in TOR cabling.
