With the development of virtualization and cloud computing, IEEE approved 40G and 100G standards to meet higher bandwidth requirements. However, switching the data center TOR switch to 40G requires a higher cost and will cause a certain amount of power consumption, and it is quite difficult and more costly to directly deploy 100G.
Therefore, based on the IEEE 100GbE standard, IEEE 802.3 has formulated a new 25G Ethernet standard, a single channel can achieve a 25Gbps rate, and a 100G transmission can be achieved through 4*25Gbps, which reduces the upgrade cost to a certain extent and brings convenience to the data center upgrade.
The common interconnection products of 25G Ethernet include 25G SFP28 optical module, AOC active optical cable and DAC high-speed cable.
