200G DAC direct attach cable VS 200G AOC active optical cable
200G Ethernet has become a hot topic in the market due to its trend of higher transmission rate, higher density, and lower device power consumption. As important components, 200G optical modules, 200G DAC, and 200G AOC have also received attention from everyone. In this blog, ETU-LINK will talk about 200G DAC direct attach cables and 200G AOC active optical cables.
200G DAC
The 200G DAC direct attach cable mainly comes in two packages: QSFP56 and QSFP28-DD. The difference between the two is that the QSFP56 DAC package uses four transmit and receive ports, each with a transmission rate of 50G, while the QSFP28-DD DAC package has eight transmit and receive ports, each with a transmission rate of 25G, and is compatible with QSFP forward and backward, and can be compatible with existing QSFP28 optical modules and AOC/DAC high-speed cables.
200G QSFP56 direct attach cables are divided into three types: 200G QSFP56 to QSFP56 DAC, 200G QSFP56 to 2x100G QSFP28 DAC, and 200G QSFP56 to 4x50G SFP56 DAC. They are mainly used for interconnecting computer data centers and cloud servers.
The 200G QSFP28-DD high-speed cable mainly consists of 200G QSFP28-DD to 2x100G QSFP28 DAC, with one end connected to one 200G QSFP28-DD module and the other end connected to two 100G QSFP28 modules. The cable length is 1M, used to connect fiber optic network devices.
200G AOC
Similarly, the 200G AOC active optical cable is mainly packaged in two forms: QSFP56 and QSFP28-DD. 200G QSFP56 active optical cables are divided into three types: 200G QSFP56 AOC, 200G QSFP56 to 2x100G QSFP28 AOC, and 200G QSFP56 to 4x50G SFP56 AOC. They are mainly used for 200G Ethernet with transmission distances of 1-100m.
There are three types of 200G QSFP28-DD active optical cables: 200G QSFP28-DD to QSFP56 AOC, 200G QSFP28-DD to 2x 100G QSFP28 AOC, and 200G QSFP28-DD to 4x 50G QSFP28 AOC, used to connect short distance data centers with 200G Ethernet links.
Their respective advantages:
200G AOC active optical cables have higher data transmission rates and higher density layouts under the same conditions, and can achieve the same transmission rate with relatively low wiring costs. In the short distance (1-5m) equipment interconnection of 200G data centers, using 200G DAC cables has a price advantage over 200G AOC active optical cables.
ETU-LINK 200G QSFP56 to QSFP56 DAC, supporting a transmission distance of 0.5-5m, low crosstalk, and low power consumption. For more product information, welcome to visit our website!
