The 10 Gigabit copper module adopts hot pluggable SFP+ package, which can be divided into multi rate and single rate. The multi rate adaptive supports 1G to 10G transmission rate, and the single rate only supports 10G transmission rate. The interface type of 10 Gigabit copper module is RJ45. Its port can support both shielded twisted pair and unshielded twisted pair. It is mainly used in switches, network cards and other products. It can be used together with CAT.6A network cable or CAT7 copper cable, and the transmission distance can reach up to 30 meters. Precautions for use of 10 Gigabit copper module:

1. Although the 10 Gigabit copper module module supports hot swap, frequent hot swap may affect the service life of the module, so frequent hot swap is not recommended.

2. The 10 Gigabit copper module can not be used together with CAT7 network cables, because the CAT7 network cables do not support 10 Gigabit transmission.

3. The power consumption of 10 Gigabit copper module is 1.5W, and the calorific value is high. If the switch has multiple SFP+ interfaces, it is not recommended to use 10 Gigabit copper module to fully plug in.

4. The 10 Gigabit copper module can't be used in the Gigabit switch, but the 10 Gigabit copper module can be interconnected with the 1 Gigabit port SFP module, so the multi rate adaptive 10 Gigabit copper module needs to be selected.

Because the link of network equipment such as data center switch is between 10 meters and 100 meters, in most cases, the data center is internally interconnected by active optical cable or high-speed cable, but because the transmission distance of high-speed cable is within 7 meters, the transmission distance is too short. Although the active cable can meet the requirements of transmission distance, the cost is too high within 100 meters. At this time, the 10G copper module just makes up for the lack of high-speed cable transmission distance and the high cost of active cable within 100m.

Within the 30 meter link, the 10 Gigabit copper module is more cost-effective than the 10 Gigabit optical module.
